Let's describe where
at our school you can find computers. We have two well equipped computer rooms with the
internet access - one in the geography classroom with 13 computers and one for general use
- computer room, then there is also a specially equipped English classroom (with a PC, a
scanner, a printer, 7 monitors for students to observe) all the necessary equipment for
using CD-ROMs and internet in teaching English and there is one computer in each classroom
of Slovene, chemistry and music, each branch schools has 2-3 computers.
Through years we
managed to buy many good educational software either of Slovenian or foreign origin
(Microsoft Word, Excel, Encarta, Creative writer, different encyclopaedias, Oxford
Electronic Wordpower Dictionary, Qsteps, different Slovene programs for maths, Slovene,
physics, geography and other, there are also our own interactive exercises in our Virtual
school.) also because our Ministry offered some of them for lower and more convenient
price or funded teachers to prepare materials for classroom use. We constantly try and use
new freeware programs for spelling, drawing, logic games etc. Most of the mentioned
programs are installed on all computers in the computer room, so students can either use
them individually or in pairs if we go there with the whole class. We have many different
after school activities and extra hours of different subjects and those groups frequently
work in the computer room. Here we can point out our successful international project work
with the help of ICT. Students from class 1 to class 8 are regular visitors of the
computer room doing different things there from drawing in Painter to counting and
searching on the net.

In our computer room which can be
called also a multimedia room you can find 17 PCs with CD-rom drivers, a scanner, CDR, two
printers and a big screen, an LCD projector, a television set and a video. This room is
the starting point of our network through the school. Here most of our on-line work with
schools all over the world is done. We also have a digital camera at school, which is used
to catch most of the events taking place in our everyday school life and special projects.
Now we would like to have one more for students and a digital video camera, but these are
still our big wishes. We also have a web cam which we use for videoconferencing with other
schools and was used for creating a virtual school together with the school from Sežana a
few years ago.
This room is also a birthplace of
young web-editors, that is students who like learning how to edit a web page and so they
make their own pages or the pages of their classes. Last year a group of class 7 made a
nice web which was awarded on the national level.

Our headmaster's day is always busy
doing his everyday tasks for instance communicating with the Ministry of education,
writing documents, working on educational, pedagogical and administrative school scheme
and plans, organising meetings with parents, the school team and the team of local
headmasters whose head is he for the moment. He has to read and answer about 20 e-mails a
day. His computer is in the administrative part of the school net. Ms Sebenik, the vice
headmistress helps with educational, pedagogical school work and has her own PC that helps
her plan everyday life at school, update the school timetable and occasional replacements
of the teachers who are absent or on teacher-training seminars. Our team of a psychologist
and a pedagogist, who are next to our head, have also their computers to store their data
and prepare relevant materials and researches for pedagogical decisions and comunicate
with their colleagues and Ministry.

Administration
Next to principal office there is the
office of Tanja, our secretary, and her PC is in a school network together with the
computers in the administrative part of the network. There she types documents and minutes
of the meetings, invitations for the school board or parents' meetings, answers e-mails,
manages the school database together with the headmaster and the school accountants etc.
She believes that in general her computer makes her work easier, but sometimes it brings
about mess and nervousness.
